WIRE ROPE CHANGE OUT IN YALOVA

BACKGROUND

The client contacted Alatas Turkey for the wire rope change out. Alatas technicians boarded the vessel, checked the spare parts, and observed that some of the spare parts were incorrectly supplied. After obtaining confirmation from the client, Alatas technicians made all the needed renewals and removed the damaged wires in the crane.

ALATAS’ SOLUTION

Alatas Turkey technicians did all the necessary checks on the spare parts, and then they renewed the starboard hose handling and David crane’s wires. Alatas technicians also replaced the Port side hose handling crane’s rope, the Port side provision crane’s wire, and the Engine room crane’s wire.

Job scope

After the spare parts check, Alatas Turkey technicians observed that some spare parts were incorrectly supplied.

After obtaining confirmation from the customer, they cut the wire lock. Alatas technicians asked the engineer to build scaffolding to renew the engine room’s crane.

First, Alatas technicians renewed the starboard hose handling crane’s wire with a new one, adjusted the limit switches, and renewed the aft David crane’s wire with a new one.

After preparations were made for the Scaffold Hose Handling rope change, Alatas technicians removed the old rope. And they equipped the new rope, but the work was interrupted because they observed that the hook stopper’s bolt was damaged.

The following day, Alatas Turkey technicians renewed the Port side hose handling crane’s rope and port side provision crane’s wire with a new one.

Then our technicians checked the port side and starboard side provision cranes’ limit switches and found the work conditions were not up to par.

Our technicians removed the starboard side provision crane’s wire.

Alatas technicians again asked the engineer to build scaffolding for the engine room’s crane. Then, our technicians renewed the engine room crane’s wire with a new one.

Alatas technicians took confirmation from the customer to cut and remove the engine room crane’s wire. After, we montaged the wire back to the crane. They adjusted the limit switch.

After that, Alatas technicians renewed the starboard side lifeboat’s wire with a new one.

Once the port side provision crane’s wire lock arrived at the vessel, our technicians finished the wire renewal. After, Alatas technicians removed that Port side lifeboat’s wire.

Alatas Turkey technicians installed a new wire to the starboard provision crane. Our technicians could not change the portside lifeboat system because the new wire was not supplied.

 Alatas technicians installed new wire to Fwd side David Crane and Port side lifeboat. Then they adjusted the alignment of the port side lifeboat davit system.

Lastly, Alatas Turkey technicians adjusted starboard lifeboat limit switches, alignment of the starboard lifeboat davit system, and portside lifeboat limit switches.

All work was completed with customer approval.
