LOCATION  EMEA / UK / ALATAS BRADFORD, UK
EQUIPMENT  150MT SWL ACTIVE HEAVE COMPENSATED CRANE WINCH
BRANDKENZ

Introduction:

The client urgently needed a comprehensive refurbishment for a large winch, requiring swift removal, transportation to our workshop, refurbishment, and reinstallation.

Background:

The winch had not undergone any major maintenance for approximately 10 years, with only minor refurbishments. As the vessel was scheduled for dry dock, the client seized the opportunity to have the winch removed, aiming to ensure its readiness for the next few years of service.

Alatas’ Solution:

Our offshore service team closely collaborated with the client and their designated third parties to facilitate the removal of ropes and the winch during a brief port call. Upon shipment to our Bradford workshop, we conducted a thorough disassembly and inspection, identifying several areas of concern which were promptly communicated to the client through weekly update calls. To expedite the refurbishment process, offshore service technicians joined our onshore team. After refurbishment, our offshore team reinstalled the winch and conducted on-site function testing.
