They drained and cleaned the damaged parts. They disassembled the directional solenoid valve on the hoisting block and took it to the workshop to test.
ALATAS’ SOLUTION
Alatas Turkey technicians conducted a meeting with the vessel’s crew and completed all necessary examinations to assess the vessel. They found that hat water and oil were mixed. After this, the technicians carried out solutions to address the problems found.
Job scope
Alatas technicians traveled to Lebanon and met with the chief engineer once they attended to the vessel. They were informed that crane number 1 does not perform the lifting movements.
During the previous oil maintenance, it was determined by the engineer that water and oil were mixed, and the oil in the system was drained and replaced with a new one. In the control the technicians made. Intensive water was detected in the hydraulic oil in the tank.
Alatas technicians informed the chief engineer that the oil in the system had to be drained and cleaned again.
Alatas technicians connected the pressure gauges to the hoisting main pump up and down points. They also connected the 1-pressure gauge to the hoisting hydraulic motor. After that, the technicians activated the hoisting by operating the crane. A constant 30-40 bar pressure was detected in the main pump. No pressure was observed on the engine by Alatas technicians.
Then the technicians disassembled and cleaned the directional solenoid valve on the hoisting block. Additionally, they carried out a function test in the workshop. A crack was detected in the billet valve.
Technicians conducted the Solenoid assembly block. Then they tested the crane again only to find no improvement. Also, they checked all points by following the hydraulic diagram.
Intensive oil leakage was found in the hoisting hydro engine throat seal.
Finally, Alatas TR technicians met with the chief engineer to determine the fault correctly.
