Alatas was entrusted with the task of designing a jacking system and executing the slewbearing replacement for the Seacrane on a fixed offshore asset in Malaysia. The original design did not specify jacking positions, necessitating the development of a custom jacking system. This involved an assessment and the design of local tie-in positions to successfully execute the scope. Alatas teams across the globe collaborated seamlessly to implement a full turnkey package, commencing with the initial survey conducted in Alatas Singapore, followed by the design engineering of the jacking system and structural tie-ins in Alatas UK, and concluding with the changeout implementation in Alatas Singapore.
Upon inspecting the slewbearing on the asset, it was discovered that the axial clearance measurement exceeded allowances. A prompt solution was imperative to replace the bearing efficiently.
Alatas Singapore initiated an initial survey using a survey pack provided by Alatas UK to gather essential data for the engineering phase. The collected data underwent careful review, and the crane pedestal and chassis were meticulously modeled. A concept was generated to meet the requirements and fit the confined installation area. Calculations were performed, and detailed design progressed, ensuring all necessary design code validations for the structure and tie-ins were considered to ensure adequate safety factors for secure implementation.
