Introduction:

Alatas Mexico was called upon to address an urgent issue at Coatzacoalcos Port in the Gulf of Mexico.

Background:

The vessel experienced a malfunction in its rope sheave due to bearing damage, rendering Macgregor crane No. 2 Model GL3024-2/2424gr inoperative.

Alatas’ Solution:

Alatas promptly dispatched a skilled team equipped with appropriate tools to the port. The team successfully removed the entire sheave assembly, replacing it with four new sheaves, one new pin, and spacers. Alatas technicians then proceeded to reinstall the sheave assembly and the wire rope, ensuring the crane’s functionality through rigorous testing.

Job Scope:

  • Alatas technicians removed the wire rope.
  • Scaffolding was erected.
  • The support plate was removed.
  • Using a shore crane, the sheave assembly was safely removed and placed on the deck.
  • Four new sheaves and one pin were installed.
  • The sheave assembly was then reinstalled.
  • The wire rope was installed.
  • Finally, a successful crane test was conducted.
