Our experts at Alatas UK were appointed to carry out welding repairs at Port of Tyne. They carried out the welding work on the lower section of a Liebherr LHM 320’s boom on-site in South Shields in the UK.
After an initial site visit, our engineers decided the welding work could be performed with the boom still mounted to the crane. To do this, they rested the Liebherr LHM 320 boom evenly on two support towers. Temporary bracing was put in place by the work team so that the damaged chord section could be removed. They also arranged the required scaffolding and welding shelter that stood 19m above ground.
