A client approached Alatas US to design, fabricate and install new travel bogies for their Amclyde Model 28 portal crane. Utilizing their design, workshop and field service teams, Alatas US provided end-to-end service to upgrade the depleted travel bogies (aka travel trucks) for their portal crane operating in Alabama.
Recently the Offshore arm of Alatas announced its first self-designed and self-built stiff-leg rental crane. With a tried and tested record in offering alternative crane services that cut out costly OEM prices, the client asked Alatas to upgrade the 40-year-old travel bogies at the foot of its Amclyde Model 28.
Custom designs
At the beginning of the process, Alatas US in-house engineering design team proposed designs for the four travel bogies required by the client. Once they agreed to the proposal and design, our Alatas US engineering design team handed the plans over to our workshop to start working on fabricating the four travel bogies.
The four travel bogies produced were built to the Amclyde portal crane’s measurements and specifications. Once the fabricated, Alatas US arranged the transportation to the port in Alabama for installation.
Our Own Field Service experts
Alatas US’ engineers and field service experts were mobilized to install the newly fabricated travel bogies. After removing the defunct equipment and installing the new Alatas-made upgrades, the engineers programmed the motor drives to work with the new travel bogies.
The work was completed by the travel bogies and the commissioning of the Amclyde portal crane by Alatas US before the crane was handed back to the client.
