These IHI boom repairs was for a vessel equipped with 4x H300200-260B deck cranes.
Crane-4 suffered impact damage at the boom’s main chord, and steel repairs had to be carried out. Alatas assessed the damaged jib and in conjunction with our crane technical department and Alatas crane design office, came up with a steel repair procedure that allowed repairs to be carried out there and then.
The Alatas boom repair procedure and method statement were submitted to ABS class and class approval was obtained ahead of the repair work.
Required boom insert segments were designed and remanufactured by Alatas Singapore’s Crane Repair Workshop and supplied to the vessel. Alatas steel repair specialists were then deployed onboard to carry out the jib welding repairs.
