|Alatas Service||Workshop Repairs|
|Crane Model||Liebherr LR1600|
|Equipment Type||Axial Piston Motor|
Alatas Americas was contracted to troubleshoot and complete travel motor repairs on a Liebherr LR1600 crawler crane in Houston, Texas. The client reported that its axial piston motors (Rexroth A6VM200s) were runningly slowly due to an oil leak.
Alatas Americas’ SOW was to complete an onsite leak oil test assessment then dismantle the inspect the pump at the Houston Alatas workshop. Then, following further investigation of the equipment, we would complete the necessary repairs, test and deliver the travel pump back to the client.
From the onsite investigation, Alatas engineers were able to determine that the motors were performing under 80% efficiency. The client removed motors and sent them to Alatas’ Houston workshop for overhaul.
In the Alatas workshop, our engineer’s disassembly and inspection of the motors found there was excessive wear in the barrel of the motor, causing excessive oil leakage and loss of efficiency. After we presented the findings back to the customer, who approved our recommendations, we repaired, reassembled and tested the units. The tests showed that after the rebuild, the pumps were operating back up to 93% efficiency.
