Background:

When faced with maintenance challenges on a provision crane, Alatas Turkey technicians were commissioned to travel to Spain, specifically Algericas. The task at hand involved the removal and subsequent rectification of issues associated with the limit switch and stopper, crucial components for the efficient operation of the crane.

Alatas’ Solution:

The technicians of Alatas Turkey embarked on a journey to Spain, fully equipped to tackle the provision crane’s maintenance. Their approach began with a meticulous meeting and equipment control session, setting the stage for a thorough assessment and resolution process. The initial steps involved the removal of the limit switch and stopper, unveiling complexities that required adept problem-solving.

Job Scope:

Upon joining the vessel, Alatas Turkey technicians commenced with the removal of the limit switch and the stopper, the latter undergoing hot working for efficient extraction. The subsequent attempt to fix the identified problems revealed challenges with new pins and bearings, prompting a need for apparatus reinforcement.

During the process, damage to the piston and oil leakage were detected at 300 bar, necessitating a series of meticulous attempts using both pulling and pushing methods. Challenges persisted due to incorrect bearing and pin dimensions, leading to a strategic heating of the surroundings for proper adjustment. At 400 bar, a weld point sustained damage, prompting the technicians to cut and reinstall the correct pin.

The final stages involved the reinstallation of the limit switch, accompanied by oil filling, lid closure, and crane repositioning. A crucial step of applying grease ensured the completion of the maintenance task with a focus on longevity and operational efficiency.
