Introduction

Problem Reported:

  • The hoist-up operation is very slow.
  • Hydraulic oil temperature is rising.
  • Distribution gearbox oil is overflowing.

We conducted a leak oil test on the pump and motor, finding a high quantity of leak oil. Heavy metal particles were also observed, and the pump shaft bearing had failed. We confirmed that the hoist pump was damaged and needed replacement.

On an urgent basis, we provided a refurbished A4VG 125 Pump and A6VM 200 Motor, complete with test certificates, to make the crane operational again.

We removed the damaged pump and motor and sent them to our Mumbai facility. After refurbishment and testing on a test bench, we delivered them onboard during the vessel’s next visit to Mumbai, along with test certificates.

Background

The hoisting pump failed due to a shaft bearing failure.

ALATAS’ Solution

Replace the failed pump and motor with an Alatas-supplied, overhauled pump and motor.

Job Scope

  • Replacement of the failed pump and motor.
  • System flushing.
  • Hydraulic oil and filter replacement.
