Introduction:

Request for replacement of heel pin and bearing on deck crane.

Background

The client reported noise coming from a bearing on crane number 4. Alatas Poland dispatched a team to replace the bearing and witness the load test by an external company after the task’s completion.

Alatas’ Solution

The Alatas Poland team removed the old pin and replaced the foot bearing during the ship’s port stay in Antwerp.

Job Scope

  • Secure the boom in the parking position.
  • Remove the old pin and bearing mounting foot.
  • Replace the bearing in the mounting foot.
  • Position new parts on the boom.
  • Adjust the position and placement of the new pin.
  • Apply new bolts to the foot mounting.
  • Apply the required torque to assemble the bearing and pin in place.
  • Test the position by applying fresh grease to confirm easy passage through the newly assembled bearing.
