Alatas Indonesia carried out troubleshooting due to reported crane malfunctioning and error codes generated from the crane’s CC2000 control system.

BACKGROUND

The client contacted ALATAS and reported that the crane could not be operated. The crane in need of troubleshooting was a MacGregor K5028 4HD 4-Rope Grab crane, handling coal and installed on a transhipper vessel operating in Indonesia.

ALATAS’ SOLUTION

ALATAS proposed to send a multi-disciplined MacGREGOR factory-trained service engineer to carry out troubleshooting, to find the root cause of the problem(s), and to carry out the necessary rectification and repair works.

FULL WORK SCOPE

ALATAS Indonesia deployed multi-disciplined service engineers to carry out electrical and hydraulic troubleshooting and repairs on the MacGregor K5028-4HD 4-rope grab crane. Following problems were found and rectified.

  • Defective Feed pump M22 was replaced
  • Main contactor KM2 & KM4 did not energize. A defective transformer fuse, causing low supply voltage was replaced.
  • Auxiliary contactors K33 & KA33 did not activate. The issue was due to a damaged R33 thermistor and it was replaced.
  • Error E68 on the CC2000 display: A Joystick error caused by a damaged signal cable, it was rectified

All faults were traced one by one and cleared, the crane operation was restored and the crane could commence cargo operation again.
