Introduction:

During a recent inspection of the booms, it was discovered that both crane no. 3 and crane no. 4 sustained damage in multiple locations. Additionally, crane no. 3’s boom was found to be twisted.

Background:

The inspection revealed that both crane no. 3 and crane no. 4’s booms were damaged at various points, likely due to material loss, and showed signs of denting in certain areas. Crane No. 3’s boom was particularly affected, being both twisted and damaged. It was suspected that the twist occurred as a result of a collision with the boom rest.

Alatas’ Solution:

Upon reviewing the UT report provided by the customer, conducted by a third party, Alatas Middle East prepared a repair proposal approved by the classification society for both cranes no. 3 and 4. The repair work was subsequently carried out at Khorfakkan port.
