INTRODUCTION

The client requested Alatas Indonesia to carry out the slew bearing change out on the Macgregor crane K3030-4HD on their Floating crane vessel.

BACKGROUND

To address these concerns, ALATAS Indonesia promptly dispatched a specialized team for a slew bearing replacement project. This complex operation took place at a designated anchorage, utilizing a crane barge for efficient removal and installation of crane jib and column components. Thorough flatness assessments yielded results well within acceptable limits, enabling us to proceed with the slew bearing installation without the need for machining work on the pedestal or column surfaces.

After successful installation, a comprehensive load test was conducted, closely monitored, and endorsed by the end user, resulting in a highly satisfactory outcome. Prior to starting the project, Alatas engineers ensured the crane’s readiness through meticulous inspections and necessary limit adjustments, both before and after the load test.
