Intro
Alatas UK was contracted to move an existing Butterley crane around another crane on a restricted access berth.
BACKGROUND
Alatas UK was contracted by Associated British Ports to reposition the crane further along the berth as part of a complete overhaul of the asset. The critical issue with the relocation was the need to move the crane around another existing crane along a very restricted berth.
ALATAS’ SOLUTION
Following a detailed site inspection and survey, Alatas engineers elected to use SPMTs and move the crane off the rails and around existing storage sheds to its new location.
JOB SCOPE
- Alatas engineers surveyed the site and discussed the available options with the client.
- SPMT supplier was sourced and lifts and moves were calculated and designed.
- The crane was moved along the agreed route and placed into position on the rails.
- Alatas engineers thoroughly checked the crane following the move.
