CRANE INSPECTION / MAINTENANCE PROGRAM plus ROBWAY FAULT FINDING, RECOMMISSIONING, AND HEALTH CHECKS

INTRO

ALATAS UK Ltd. was tasked by our client with an inspection and maintenance program on the two Favelle Favco cranes.  This included recommissioning and fault-finding on a Robway system

BACKGROUND

Cranes require yearly maintenance, inspection, and load tests before long-term mobilization.

ALATAS’ SOLUTION

Alatas carried out inspection, maintenance, and function tests as per PMRs.  This included inspection of pumps, motors, drive spline pinions, etc. During our inspections, it became clear that the Robway system was not functioning correctly.  We undertook fault-finding and recommissioned the system, including load testing.  Scope expanded to Splitter/winch/slew gearbox oil replacement and a slew bearing changeout.

Inspections and maintenance were conducted according to the work scope, Alatas work procedure, and the inspection checklist, along with the identification of defective components. Upon completion of the work scope, Alatas UK technicians highlighted some areas of concern on the cranes inspected during the inspection and maintenance program.

 These issues included:

1. Excessive corrosion on drive splines (No. 2 slew drive)

2. Metal debris was found on the drain plug.

3. Removal and replacement of the faulty pump

4) Kinks present in the rope
