The experts went to the vessel, examined the spare parts, replaced and torqued the slewing bearing bolts, and then checked the cranes.

BACKGROUND

The technicians received the task to replace the slewing bearing bolts, so they traveled to Casablanca to resolve the issues.

ALATAS’ SOLUTION

The customer contacted Alatas Turkey concerning the slewing bearing bolt change out, and Alatas Turkey commissioned their technicians to resolve the issues.

JOB SCOPE

The Alatas Turkey technicians travelled to Casablanca, Morocco, to address the vessel’s issues.

To begin, they meticulously inspected the spare parts and efficiently transferred them to Crane No. 4.

During the test, a setback occurred as the auxiliary generator, responsible for 220v/50Hz electricity, failed to function correctly, leading to an interruption in operations.

Undeterred, the technicians promptly replaced and torqued the slewing bearing bolts. However, the auxiliary generator’s recurring failure necessitated the customer’s provision of a new one to proceed with the job.

With the new auxiliary generator in place, the technicians carefully torqued the slewing bearing bolts once more.

Though the length of seven bolts couldn’t be modified due to their non-original size, the technicians sought and received approval from the customer to apply 10% less torque, ensuring the best possible solution.

Finally, the skilled technicians torqued and verified the slewing bearing inside bolts of Crane no. 3 and 2, wrapping up their thorough maintenance work.
