Alatas Americas were called out to inspect a Hagglund crane with sheave problems. The crane wire rope was slackened to allow he crane jib to be lowered onto hatch covers to allow work to be carried out.
Hagglund ship crane was found to require replacement of the boom hinge bearing. With assistance from the shipyard a hook was welded to the side of the crane to lift the boom and allow work to be carried out to replace the hinge.
