Alatas Middle East - Crane Upgrade for Personal Transport/Transfer (Man Riding)
ALATAS Middle East has been awarded with a contract to upgrade an existing HAEAN knuckle boom crane to be DNV certified for personal transfer / man riding.
The scope of work included the supply of a new hoist winch with a primary and secondary brake system to be added to the crane as auxiliary hoist winch for normal crane operation and for personnel transfer. Additional scope of supply was an electric-hydraulic emergency power pack for recovery of a possible suspended load in case of a failure to the crane prime mover, switch over valves, hoses, additional hydraulic reservoir and engineering services.
The engineering services consisted of designing, calculating and manufacturing documentation for the required winch support frame and rope sheave arrangements to guide the rope from the winch to the hook in both positions of the knuckle boom.
The new SLI system incorporated the existing main hoist as well as the new auxiliary hoist to indicate the SWL as well as to protect the crane from overloading. Hydraulic cut off valves adjusted for the specific functions provide a secondary safety function to the crane.
