Background
The
Vessel was alongside in Shanghai, discharging containers,
when a passing vessel came too close and collided with
the boom of O&K deck crane No1, ripping it off it's hinge.
The
solution
Alatas crane services
was called in to investigate and assess the damage and
to suggest appropriate repair procedures. Alatas was awarded the crane repair. This was carried
out in Singapore.
The Procedure
The damaged crane boom parts
where cropped and renewed, damage on the crane column
was repaired during voyage.
Re-commissioning, function
testing and overload testing was carried out under the
supervision of Alatas Engineers.
The entire repair documentation,
class approval and re-certification, supply of material
and parts as well as liaison with Insurance was carried
out by Alatas in time and minimising
the work load on the owner's side. |
