MELCAL Knuckle Boom Crane Refurbishment

 

ALATAS Middle East has won the tender to completely overhaul one MELCAL Knuckle Boom Crane after 7 years of extensive use in the oilfield.
Alatas managed the work scope as a turnkey project involving the complete strip down, cleaning, blasting, fabrication, painting, supply of spare parts, tool, equipment, working procedures, reassembly, installation, testing and handing over to operations.

The scope of work involved:

  1. Receiving of the crane at the workshop.
  2. Complete strip down.
  3. Cleaning, blasting where applicable.
  4. Fabrication of main grab beam.
  5. Structural repair to the boom and operator cabin.
  6. Overhaul of all hydraulic cylinders.
  7. Replacement of all hydraulic hoses.
  8. Repair and testing of controls.
  9. Repair and testing of HVAC.
  10. NDT, painting, re-assembly and testing.
