Alatas was asked to conduct and supervise the refurbishment of 6 units Liebherr SB-type cranes, built in 1977. The vessel had been laid-up for the last 2 years. As a result crane condition was poor and a complete rebuild from ground-up was necessary. Within a time frame of only 28 days, all 6 cranes where removed from the ship, stripped down, overhauled, re-assembled, installed and successfully proof load tested.

Alatas Singapore's professionalism, experience, workshop facilities and competitive rates resulted in the owner achieving a substantial cost saving.

Scope of work:

	Remove and strip down crane booms.
	Sand-blasting and painting.
	Crane hydraulic and electrical systems renewed.
	Removal, strip down and overhaul of 12 rope winches.
	Strip down and service of 6 top pulley block assemblies.
	Removal, strip down, overhaul and dynamic test of 17 hydraulic pumps and motors.
	Removal, re-wind and re-bake of 6 electric main motors.
	Disconnection and removal of old, 6 wasted crane cabs.
	Replaced with locally manufactured crane cabs.
	Troubleshooting and set-up of 6 crane control system including reactivation of twin crane control systems.
	Proof load testing of each crane in single, tandem and quad lifting mode.
