Changeout of slew bearing on Hagglunds GL2525-2 Ship Crane. Carried out in Venezuela.

Inspected slew bearing and, using steel supports made up by crew, safely slewed crane back into park position.

Welded internal fixed supports to allow boom functions to begin without load.

No slewing functions allowed until bearing replaced. Crane secured by supports to pedestal.

Pinion shafts had been pushed up inside gearboxes and possibly bent. Internal bearings of slewing gearboxes will be damaged and gears will require inspection to determine extent of damage. Therefore, both slewing gearboxes will require inspection/overhaul.
