Liebherr crane luffing cylinder exchange carried out by Alatas Hong Kong in Tianjin/China.
Inspection of the Liebherr ship crane established which luffing cylinder was leaking. The leaking cylinder had been overhauled in a shipyard only 5 months earlier. The damaged luffing cylinder was removed and lowered to deck and sent to the Alatas workshop for overhaul. New luffing cylinder from ship's spare stock was hoisted into position, installed, hydraulically connected and tested.
The crane jib was tested and found to be working satisfactory without any jib sagging.
The whole job was carried out by Alatas Engineers within 10 hours as the vessel had to leave for an urgent cargo engagement, where the crane was needed again.
The removed cylinder was inspected and the barrel needed to be replaced. The cylinder was delivered back to the vessel with a new barrel, rechromed piston-rod and resealed after dynamic testing.
