Alatas has been requested to analyze a troubled control system configuration and setup to improve the integrity, reliability and accessibility.
Therefore a new risk analysis according EN13849 and NORSOK requirements reviewed and approved by DNV was carried out to implement a
new PLC configuration including safety PLC components.
Due to the relative low age of the crane all sensors and actuators except the operator controllers could remain and were re-used resulting in
a significant cost saving.
The new system was setup at the workshop where a FAT with the presence of the customer, the operating personnel and DNV was carried out
prior delivery offshore.
The offshore installation was done within a few days after detailed planning to reduce the crane down time to a minimum.
The SAT was again carried out successfully with the presence of the customers and DNV’s presence and the crane handed over to operation thereafter.
Below are some illustration of the system and its arrangement.
