COMPLETE OVERHAUL OF 2 UNITS LIEBHERR OFFSHORE CRANES BOS 50/1900D TYPE IN SINGAPORE

The rig was transferred from its Russian owners to a local client early this year. Maintenance had been neglected and among other equipment, also the cranes where in quite poor condition. So much so, that the new owners where considering to scrap and replace the cranes.

ALATAS Singapore, as the recognized Liebherr Offshore Crane Specialists, was called in at last minute to take over where Liebherr’s own Singapore office has been found not competitive. We put our global resources to good use and, being accustomed to work under pressure and on extremely tight schedule, managed to fully refurbish both cranes in time for the rig to start its next employment.

Following work was carried out:

Fully refurbish and re-build 2 units crane booms:
More then 9 tons of high tensile, seamless pipes where air freighted from our European suppliers and used up top replace damaged and severely corroded boom sections.

Overhaul gearboxes:
Luffing winch, main- and aux. hoisting winches, slewing gearboxes and pump distributor gearboxes were removed and overhauled in our workshop according to manufacturer’s procedures and specifications

Overhaul hydraulic pumps & motors:
Our sophisticated hydraulic workshop and dynamic, computerized pump test bench where put to good use in fully refurbishing the cranes hydraulic components. Our vast stock of original Rexroth spare parts ensured quick turnaround times at reasonable prices.

Installation of new Load Indicator:
A new and modern load indicator was installed, tested and calibrated instead of the existing obsolete PAT system.

Crane function checks:
re-commissioning, adjusting electric, electronic and hydraulic settings was carried out by our Senior Liebherr Engineers to ensure smooth and trouble free operation for a long time to come.
