O&K special twin crane slewing bearing replacement
The customer was operating an O&K FGH 2x25t-30m twin crane. The crane had been out of order for a long time.. The problems included worn out hydraulic components and a malfunctioning twin crane control system, however the main problem was a collapsed slewing bearing ring.
The design of this slewing ring is very special. As a result the purchase price is very high and delivery time is more than a year. The owners therefore were considering scrapping the crane.
This is where ALATAS came into play. Through our extensive connections in the maritime industry, we managed to source and deliver a replacement slewing bearing at half the cost and with a delivery time of less than a month.
ALATAS Singapore installed this double function bearing at the shipyard in Singapore using a floating crane. Additionally, an extensive overhaul of the hydraulic components was carried out (A6VM hoist motors, A4V125 hoist pump etc..), the electronic control system (Eberle PLC) was repaired and re-calibrated, and the automatic twin crane control system was re-activated. The crane then was successfully load tested in single crane and twin crane mode.
It shows once more that ALATAS, as an independent crane service organisation is able to solve a customer problem better and faster then the original crane manufacturer would have been able to.
